— Holding company. Est. 2023. Kampala, Uganda. 00 / Prologue

A quiet workshop weaving an African century.

Weave Labs is a long-horizon holding company. We build, own, and patiently compound a small portfolio of technology products — Nexus, Origin, and more to come — beginning on the continent, designed for the world.

I. Thesis 01 / 04

The next great companies on the continent will not be imitations. They will be indigenous, instrumented, and quietly inevitable.

A — Premise

Africa is not an emerging market. It is a market emerging on its own terms, with its own languages, currencies, frictions, and forms of capital. The software written for it must understand those terms.

B — Method

We hold few things, well. Each Weave company is conceived inside the studio, capitalised conservatively, and given the room to compound. We prefer ten years of compounding to ten months of attention.

C — Output

Operating systems for businesses that have never had one. Capital rails for founders the existing rails were never designed for. Patient infrastructure rather than novelty.

II. Portfolio 02 active · more

Two products in market.
More in the workshop.

Each Weave product solves one structural problem for the African economy. They are separately led, independently branded, and built to outlast their headlines.

III. Way of working 03 / 04

We build slowly, ship deliberately, and own for a long time.

01

Conceive inside the house

Every Weave company begins as a question inside the studio. We do not invest in companies we did not write the first line of.

02

Capitalise modestly

Constraint is a feature. We raise only as much as a company needs to find its shape, and never enough to make it forget itself.

03

Lead with operators

Each company is run by a CEO with full authority over their craft. The holding company is a quiet shareholder, not a parent.

04

Hold for decades

We design for the company to be standing in twenty-five years. Everything — the cap table, the codebase, the brand — is built for that horizon.

IV. Letters from the studio 04 / 04

We write things down. Slowly, and in full sentences.

A quarterly notebook from inside the studio — essays on building patiently, process notes from products in flight, and the occasional letter from Naguru Hill.

  1. № 014 · Essay MMXXVI · V

On building slowly in a place the world expects to be in a hurry.

The continent's tempo is mistaken for impatience. It is not. It is the rhythm of people who have been here a long time and intend to be here much longer.

  2. № 013 · Field note MMXXVI · IV

What twelve founders taught us about the shape of patient capital.

Ninety days inside Origin's first cohort. A few things we expected were wrong; a few we hadn't thought of turned out to be the point.

  3. № 012 · From Naguru Hill MMXXVI · III

A letter from Kampala, written for nobody in particular.

On the hill above the city the mornings are blue, the afternoons are loud, and the work — done patiently — outlasts both.
